Oratory of St. Nicholas
It was built by the priest Parisio de Mayo or Massa, according to the episcopal Bull of May 2, 1334, which authorized its construction, and it was dedicated to St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra.
The priest endowed it with assets and reserved for himself and his heirs the right of patronage.
The temple was expanded in the 17th century, and in 1860, after the founding family had become extinct, it received its first rector appointed by the bishop, the priest Saverio Massa. It was further expanded and equipped with a sacristy and a marble altar in 1907. Subsequently, due to the suppressive laws of 1866, the chapel was deprived of its few revenues and was always managed by the prefect of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, established within the chapel.
The chapel has a simple entrance, surmounted by a Latin inscription that commemorates its dedication to St. Nicholas, along with a small bell tower.
The main altar, made of polychrome marble, is topped by a wooden statue of the Immaculate Virgin, which originally came from the Congregation of the Most Holy Annunciation. To the right, there is a small statue of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, and to the left, one of St. Nicholas, both made of papier-mâché. They are also the patron saints of the Congregation of the Spirit of the Luigini. On the right wall upon entering, a plaque from 1945 commemorates the apostolic work of Don Eduardo Mastellone, rector of the chapel from 1892 to 1945.
